RE-TREE THE AVENUE
There was once a gallery in Chestnut Hill, PA—where I grew up—called the Carol Schwartz Gallery. Though I never had the chance to meet Carol, who had passed away, her legacy was evident in how deeply people loved her. In 2017, I met her husband Elliot, who had kept the gallery open in her honor.
Elliot liked my work and offered me a show. He was a connector, someone who knew everyone and whom everyone genuinely liked. He had a gift for conversation and an instinct for selling art that came from real enthusiasm.
Through his connections at the Chestnut Hill Community Association, Elliot proposed a partnership: the gallery and I would collaborate with the Association to raise funds for their ongoing Re-Tree The Avenue program. You can read more about it here.
